Antonio,

I have considerable familiarity with ESRI .prj files; how they vary from
OGC WKT coordinate systems and how to interprete them. Feel free to draw
on me if I can be of help.

I don't know if there is support for this in libraries like GeoTools or
not.  There is in GDAL/OGR if you want to get at it that way.
