[Gvsig_english] copy/paste in the table of attributes

Hello everbody,

I have a really simple question to ask so bear with me :-)

After reading the gvSIG's manual I still don't understand the meaning of the copy, cut and paste functions in the table of attributes regarding a shapefile.
In the manual such a function is not commented. Probably because it is supposed to be self-explanatory :-)

In particul, I create a new field in the table of attributes.
I copy-cut a record (from the menu "Table"), after selecting it (the cell's background becomes gray).
I paste it (always from the menu "Tabel") into the same field in a different cell but nothing happens.

To me, the best would be copying many records and pasting them into the same field in order to save time when the values are the same.

I am working with the latest version of gvSIG on Windows Xp home edition and, obviously, I am doing something wrong.

In conclusion, after starting editing a shapefile, is it possible to copy-cut many records in a field and paste them into the same field in a different position?
I am aware I could open the dbf related to my shapefile for example with OpenOffice Calc and write my values (copying and pasting them at will).
Nevertheless, I am curious to know the meaning of the copy and past funcions in gvSIG.

Best regards

Silvio
