[Gvsig_english] short poll: lyr import tool

Actually, worse than that, it uses the ArcObjects (or whatever
it's called) API to get information out of a LYR file.
This means that you need a complete ArcGIS installation to
run this tool. It's still useful, if you have that and just
want to migrate your data to e.g. gvSIG. But for real file-level
compatibility, the LYR file's binary code would need to be parsed
in its "raw" form.

That means you would either need detailed file format info from
ESRI or reverse-engineer the whole thing.

Best,

Ben

Hi,

The tool may be usefull but, if i'm not mistaken, it's .net base so
problem with linux and mac. Also, if you receive a layerfile with
data on gv_sig, you should be able to have the tool integration with
the import symbology not to find and other program. In the wish list
for future..
