[Gvsig_english] v1.9 alpha on Ubuntu 8.10

I attempted to install gvSIG on Ubuntu 8.10 but I admit I'm a complete
novice in the linux space.

I ran the .bin file from the command line. An icon wasn't installed like
the doco said but I was able to run using 'sudo sh
/usr/local/gvSIG_1.9_alpha/bin/gvSIG.sh'. I had a window sizing problem
and found a post that suggested editing the bash.bashrc file. I added an
entry to /etc/bash.bashrc:

export AWT_TOOLKIT="MToolkit"

Then gvSIG stopped working altogether. I commented the line out and now
it runs!

Am I editing the correct file or does the entry have to go in a specific
location in the bash.bashrc file.

Cheers

Colin
