[Gvsig_english] gvSIG in the Interoperability Congress of CEN 7 TC 287

The National Geographic Institute of Spain in Madrid organizes the  
Interoperability Congress of CEN / TC 287 [1], to be held from  
February 23 to February 27, 2009.

The Technical Committee (CEN / TC 287) was created in 1991 within the  
European Committee for Standardization (CEN), with the mission to  
normalize in the European territory, geographical information. This  
initiative was, and is formed by national associations of European  
standards, including AENOR (Spanish Association for Standardization  
and Certification). The rules on geographical information approved by  
CEN are then accepted as European Standards (EN), and then  
automatically as Spanish standards (UNE).

Within the event, stressed the "CEN / TC 287 Interoperability Workshop  
'[2], to be held on Wednesday February 25. Under the title 'Standards  
in Geo - Practice ' will seek to analyze the projects and  
interoperability in specific developments, that half of them will be  
Spanish, through the practical application of the CEN standards, ISO  
and OGC.

In this Workshop, gvSIG is involved with the paper 'The  
interoperability through standards in the gvSIG project. During the  
same gvSIG will be submitted, the reasons for its commitment to  
standards and the pursuit of interoperability, their role as a client  
in the spatial data infrastructure, the strategic bet by 100% free  
IDEs, data relationship between free / open source software models  
based on shared knowledge.
