Maybe the suddenly close it's produced because gvSIG automatically
reproject to the view projection when you add a layer with another
projection. Proj4 crashes if you try to set the projection to another
one. But the preferences might be the right ones. Which gvSIG version
are you using and what Operating System? <br>
