Hi Flavio,

The simplest way to run gvSIG 1.9 on Vista is installing 3D extension build nuber 11. The installer will make the work for you. If you want to avoid the installation of 3D extension you can simply substitute binaries with the ones of the 3D svn-tag. It's not necessary that you download and compile yourself the native libraries, just replacing binaries should do the trick.

It's normal you don't have this libraries in your eclipse workspace if you aren't working with native libraries. Binaries of these libraries are precompiled for all platforms, and they are in the folder binaries/ of all svn versions, so the ones that work for Vista/Win 7 are in 3D svn-tag.

Tell us any problem you find. We are very interested in community feedback.

Hope this helps.

2010/1/17 Flavio Pompermaier <fla83tn@libero.it>
Now things are more clear!!
The only thing that I still haven't understood is which is the simplest way to run gvSIG (1.9) on Windows Vista.
Should I just substitute the binaries folder of standard gvSIG with the one of the 3D snv-tag or should I also
download the following libraries?

libjni-potrace
libjni-ecw
libjni-mrSID
libjni-gdal
libjni-proj4

In the previous mail I didn't get the real usefulness of those libraries. I do not have them between the libraries
of my gvSIG 1.9 (no 3D) eclipse workspace.

Best regards,
Hi Flavio,

2010/1/16 Flavio Pompermaier <fla83tn@gmail.com>

I'm very interesting in the compatibility with Windows Vista/Windows 7.
In order to obtain it, have I to install all the 3D stuff or should I just substitute binaries and some library?

The easiest way to obtain the compatibility with Vista and Win 7 is
installing the 3D extension, but if you want to do it yourself,
avoiding then installation of 3D stuff, you can catch the binaries of
raster libraries which are in the folder binaries of the subversion 3D
tag (http://subversion.gvsig.org/gvSIG/tags/gvSIG_3D_Animatoin_1_9_SNAPSHOT_11).

Moreover I didn't manage to integrate such all extensions and libraries in my gvSIG 1.9 source code.
They require a different building approach and combine both maven and ant. I tried to use buil folder to
create a new gvSIG application from sources but I wasn't able to reach my scope.

In order to build gvSIG with 3D extension in gvSIG 1.9 Download gvSIG
from last build tag or trunk including the build directory. This could
be easily compiled doing this:

-- GVSIG --
- Enter build directory of gvSIG.
- mvn install
- Enter build/projects/gvsig-plugin-base
- mvn install -Dmaven.test.skip
- Enter appgvSIG directory.
- ant build-all

Once you have compiled gvSIG, I recommend you to download 3D tag in a separate workspace and follow the next:

-- GVSIG 3D --
- Enter build directory of gvSIG3D
- mvn install
- Enter build/projects/gvsig-plugin-3D
- mvn install -Dmaven.test.skip -Dinstall-extension -Dgvsig-path="path-to-_fwAndami-in-gvsig-workspace"
- Enter build/projects/gvsig-plugin-animation
- mvn install -Dmaven.test.skip -Dinstall-extension -Dgvsig-path="path-to-_fwAndami-in-gvsig-workspace"
- Enter binaries directory
- ant

Now only remains to configure the gvSIG launcher in eclipse to launch
gvSIG+3D and pointing the LD_LIBRARY_PATH or PATH env vars to apropiate
binaries section you could run a complete gvSIG.

I'd like to know how to integrate common gvSIG workspace and 3D extension in order to make gvSIG work
on Windows Vista.

Substituting binaries of this libraries:

libjni-potrace
libjni-ecw
libjni-mrSID
libjni-gdal
libjni-proj4

You will probably get your goal.

And another thing: I downloaded the stuff from
http://subversion.gvsig.org/gvSIG/tags/gvSIG_3D_Animatoin_1_9_SNAPSHOT_11 because if you do
checkout https://svn.forge.osor.eu/svn/gvsig-3d as reported by the estension site there's nothing.

Yes, the extension is not yet uploaded to osor servers, and probably they will, but for gvSIG 2.0 release, not for 1.9.

What I'm doing wrong? Is there a bried guide that specify how to integrate source code of 3D extension
with my gvSIG 1.9 project in eclipse?

We want upload a similar compile guide to plone next week and for gvSIG 2.0 all will be easier. Sorry for the inconvenience.

One more important thing. This is not a oficial release of gvSIG
binaries. This development is done to extend the support to Windows
7/Vista and MacOSX, and has not been tested by the CIT yet, So I
recommend you do not use it in a production environment and test it too.

Best regards,
Flavio

Hope this helps.
announce a new build of the 3D gvSIG extension which is available at
[1]. This build works on gvSIG 1.9 stable (build 1253) available at [2].

In addition to the improvements shown in the 5th International
Conference, this build(11) showcases a remarkable feature: its
installation overrides the raster libraries which were causing problems
in Windows Vista/Windows 7. Also, the full application is offered as a
"dmg" for MacOSX, working on Leopard as well as SnowLeopard, allowing
to load raster layers supported by gdal.

Among the new features, we shall emphasize:

New kernel version integrated (osgVP-2.2.0).

Improved memory management .

Added new symbology system.

Various display modes, including stereo and fullscreen.

Here, in the ai2 (Instituto de Automática e Informática
Industrial), we have created an unofficial gvSIG 3D blog, which
contains news, tutorials and examples of the application's features.

We
encourage everyone to try this version and await your comments and
suggestions in the blog as well as in the mailing list in order to keep
improving the framework.
