hi, thanks a lot for your answer. I made some changes in the settings and tried it again, it's working, but it remains working with the old settings now. perhaps I was just expecting too much from the difference of line thickness of 1 and 0.5, but if I watch carefully to it, there is an explicit difference between maps print in 1 and 0.1 thickness. perhaps I was just blind or confused...

thank you!

2010/1/21 Simon Cropper (Botanicus Australia Pty Ltd) <scropper@botanicusaustralia.com.au>

So if I understand your problem... You can view a line geometry on the
screen, superimposed on a DEM, at what appears to be the correct size
but when you print it to postscript it is too thick.

There are too avenues you can investigate here. The first is check what
you map is setup to show -- look at the settings in the 'cartography'
section of your preferences and change the values to see how they
influence the output. The second option is change your output from
PS/PDF to an image. I have successfully used ImagePrinter to
export/print to a JPG with much better results than working through
postscript files. Not sure why this occurs as both systems are based on
the same libraries but it does.
