Hi Wolfang,

If you are using Mesa drivers you have to disable Compiz. BUt there is another option : I suspect your drivers are not loading libGL, necessary to run OpenGL effects from Java applications.
Could you try this? in a shell do:

export LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libGL.so

and then, in the same shell start gvSIG using gvSIG.sh script.

This worked for me in my 10.4 with Mesa drivers. But depending on your drivers/hardware it could not work.

Tell us your results.
Hope this helps.

2010/5/5 Benjamin Ducke <benjamin.ducke@oxfordarch.co.uk>
Do you get an error message?

Also, if you have used gvSIG 1.9 (CIT download) previously,
it may be a good idea to remove (or better: rename) your
"gvSIG" user settings folder once before you launch gvSIG OADE.

Compiz should be working fine with Ubuntu 10.04 and Java 1.6.18
(at least it does for me using the proprietary ATI drivers, other
graphics card drivers may not). But then: who needs it, anyway?

Dear all.
I just have upgraded to 10.04 on my netbook. Afterwards, I have
installed gvsig-oade. Unfortunatly, gvSIG does not display the project
manager, only an empty window. I have checked my settings of ubuntu: no
visual effects (compiz) are activated. Any ideas?

Best,
Wolfgang
