Hi Jan,

The 3DS importer included in gvSIG (and provided for OSG) doesn't support using different images for alpha channel, but you can use a png with alpha channel for Diffuse color and Opacity. However, the plugin is bugged and it don't apply the alpha.

But you can do this trick to force a "GL_BLEND" and show the alpha correctly. Edit your scene and apply the same png in diffuse color and opacity. Then change the Opacity to 99 in the "Phong Basic Parameters" as shown in the image "materials.png" attached.

Now, try to load your 3ds file in gvSIG and you have to see something like attached screenshots.

Since the plugin is provided by OSG, we try to solve the issue as soon as possible but maybe is not in our hand to have it ready for next version of gvSIG 3D extension.

PD: We tested some collada and autocad importers/exporters for 3ds Max and the alpha channel issue persist in the exported files. Its a common issue in most of exporters, so trying to export in other format doesn't solve the issue. By the way, we tried the FBX plugin provided by OSG with great results, and we are thinking to include it in next distributions of our extension.
