[Gvsig_english] Re: New 1-0-alpha release now available

Greetings,

I found Gvsig while searching for Spanish map data; many thanks to the
many people who are undertaking such an ambitious and worthwhile
project.

I downloaded the 1.0 alpha release yesterday.
I am trying to run the program under Windows XP.
I have both a Java 1.5 JRE installed and a Java 1.4+ JRE installed.

I notice that even though I have placed the Java 1.4+ JRE in my path
and have changed JAVA_HOME to point to my Java 1.4 JRE, Gvsig does not
run because something is still checking for the proper Java version
using the Windows registry:

C:\Program Files\gvSIG_1.0_alpha\bin>gvsig.bat
Registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\CurrentVersion'
has value '1.5', but '1.4' is required.
Error: could not find java.dll
Error: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment.

I do not wish to uninstall my Java 1.5 JRE; is there a workaround for
this problem?
