[Gvsig_english] Join-capabilities of gvSIG::possible to join non-numerical fields?

Hi list,
will it be possible in gvSIG to join to tables based on a non-numerical field? 
This can be very interesting, if you would like to link two tables with 
addresses, but we also have quite some data with strange id-columns 
(combination of numbers and characters...)
I know that this is possible in ArcView, so... I definitively would be glad 
for a short remark on this.
