[Gvsig_english] Problem opening a large project

Hello everybody,
I'm experiencing a problem with a project I'm working on.

The project is simple even i frather large: it's made up of a single .shp (the
boundaries of a region in central Italy) file and several georeferenced .tif
layers (1:10:000 maps - more or less 1.000 files, about 700 kB / 1 MB each)
covering the whole map.

I create and save the project, and everything seems to work fine. When I try
and load the project after quitting and restarting GVsig, it will load
the .shp file, then it will start loading the .tiff files , but it will hang
and load only a few of them. Then it seems to go through a loop and keep
re-loading always the same .tif files. These .tif files keep "blinking".

The .tif files are organized in subgroups for ease of use. Each group is made
up of 70 - 100 .tif files. The software hangs while loading files in the
first sub-group. If I deselect e.g. the first group of .tif layers, it will
start loading the second group, but will fail to complete that as well, and
so on.

Any body can help?
I'll provide any further information required.

Thanks
Paolo
