[Gvsig_english] gvSIG testing dataset

Dear all,

as we discussed during the gvSIG conference (great event, by the way,
thanks muchos, everyone!), it would be useful for bug reporting to
have a reference dataset on which to test gvSIG functions. Using this,
bug reports can be much more precise and developers should be able
to reproduce issues more easily.

I have taken the free North Carolina dataset (which also happens to
be used as sample data by the GRASS and QGIS projects), cleaned and
simplified the data a little and converted all to standard geodata
formats.

The dataset is available here:

   ftp://88.208.250.116/gvsig-ref-data-nc.zip

If you want a proper project setup to use in gvSIG, open
"north_carolina.gvp" in your favourite text editor, then
search and replace

"SAMPLE_DATA_PATH"

with the absolute path to the directory you unzipped
the data in. On Windows systems: don't forget to replace
all "/" with "\" in all path specifiers, as well!
This can be done using the following patterns:

"/north_carolina" = "\north_carolina"
"/wake/" = "\wake\"
"/imagery/" = "\imagery\"

You should then be able to open the GVP file with gvSIG.
The dataset contains vector and raster data on two
different scales: for the whole of North Carolina and the
state of Wake County.

The roads network data is usable for testing the networks
extension.

All the best,

Ben
