Hello Antonio,
yes, gvSIG rocks! And it is good to see that more and more people get interested in this program. Well, I'll try to answer your questions:

regarding A)
as far as I know, gvsig-developers are very busy with enhancing options for labeling and symbols (legend). Hopefully,it will not take too long to see these features in a new version (All the best, Jaume!)

regarding B)
recent versions of gvSIG (at least 1.1) provide a "field calculator". To be able to use it, you will have to follow these steps:

1) make the desired theme active, right-click - start editing
2) open the attribute table of that theme, click on the attribute column for which you would like to calculate area, perimeter --> on the menu bar, there will appear a new symbol which looks like a calculator.
3) This field calculator allows you to use differrent calculations, among others also area and perimeter. It's very similar to ArcView 3.2.
I also would like to mention that there is no automatical update of items like area and perimeter. This would really make sense. Developers?

regarding C)
I fear that I do not the status of this feature. I agree that this would be nice to have.

Cheers,
Wolfgang
