I hate to do this, but could I stress one more time the importance of
providing a generic OGR/GDAL interface for gvSIG?

This would add dozens of data formats to gvSIG in one go. It would
also provide access to geodata in SQLite format DB files via this
driver:

http://www.gdal.org/ogr/drv_sqlite.html

That form of storage is the big new thing which will be supported by
many GIS shortly (SpatiaLite tools, SpatiaLite plugin for QGIS, GRASS
via OGR interface, ...).

It'd be sad to see gvSIG be stuck with a handful of data formats, while
the rest of the open source GIS world happily handles dozens of them
via GDAL/OGR.

Maybe something to consider for gvSIG 2.1?

Thanks,

Ben
