Hello Wolfrang, I can't see any error in the log :-(

By the way, I thing the right steps to achieve what you want are:
1- In the shapefile, add 'x' and 'y' fields with the field calculator
2- Join the dbf with physicians with the dbf of addresss, using the
physicians dbf as 'source' table in the join process
3- Export the resulting joining table to DBF
4- Load the DBF as an event theme

I've tried to do a similar test in my PC, but I got an error in step 3.
It is a bug, which will be solved ASAP.
Did you get the error in the same step?

Regards,

   César
