The 2.0 scripting engine for gvSIG will support at least python
language (using the jython vm) and probably javascript. There will be
also support for groovy and beanshell but the bindings of these
languages with gvSIG is, at this time, not tested.

The project to develop these features is at OSOR.eu forge[1]. At this
time there's no activity on it because there are more urgent tasks but
it's planned to return to work on it, of course.

The features on gvSIG will be:

* An editor with syntax highlighting
* ThinG[2] embbebed to provide a RAD environment for GUI creation
* Integration with gvSIG libraries javadocs
* An script manager

There are a lot of ideas to develop (like providing support inside
gvSIG for an easy sharing of scripts) but these ones for sure will be
at 2.0 release.

Finally, there will be some samples about running scripts, but first
we need to have the engine integrated on gvSIG.

We all know about a succesful site to compare with :-)
