[Gvsig_english] Compiling minimal GDAL native binaries

Dear list,

I am currently compiling new native binaries based on GDAL 1.6.3.
GDAL contains a lot of stuff and I would like to keep the binaries
minimial to reduce dependencies and compile time.

So, my question is: does gvSIG use GDAL for anything other than
raster data access? Is it safe to leave out all OGR drivers, and
all the other things that relate to OGR: database drivers,
cURL, Expat and Xerces-C ???
