[Gvsig_english] Raster editing

Hi, I'm trying to do a few things with a raster of a DEM, and I'm having some
trouble.  In no particular order:  I'd like to clip the raster, but I keep
getting a Java error when I try.  Second, I'd like to convert DEM to slope,
but when I do it, the conversion yields an image that is only two values. 
Can anyone tell what I'm doing wrong?
