[Gvsig_english] gvsig mobile layer management & gvsig desktop export

Hello, Marcel:

The language code is read from the appsettings.xml file UNLESS you use the l=xx param. If you set "l=fr" in the run settings parameters or in the BAT file, then you should see it in another language. If you dont add the l=xx parameter, the language will be taken from the appsettings.xml file

Have you tried this?

http://downloads.gvsig.org/pub/gvSIG-mobile/devel/piloto-0_3/piloto-0_3_0/275/gvSIGMobileXP-0.3.0-build_275.zip

Simply download, unzip and double-click on "gvSIG Mobile.bat". Does the TOC behave in a strange way too?

Regards,

Juan Lucas Domínguez Rubio

Hello again.

Nobody else got that problem? (like shown with screenshots in last mail)

I can't believe that it is a problem only of my system / java environment.

Regards.

Thank you for the fast reply.

Concerning the TOC and mainly the Layer symbology page: Directly after selecting the color, you see this color in the symbology page? (without closing and reopening...?)

I've added a few screenshots, so you can better see what I mean. I've tested with XP version 0.3 on Windows PC with JRE 1.6 installed. Perhaps that's the problem? Thought it should be backward compatible? But I don't know how to change the JRE for executable programs. Just tested with the last source code (and JDK 1.4/JRE 1.5 selected) and have got the same problem there.

	Any further suggestions?

By the way, the language cannot be set in this XP version. That's why the screenshots still have Spanish text ;) but that's not important, just want to let you know...

	Regards,
	Marcel S.

		Hello,

		- TOC not updated: I was unsure about this and wanted to check. The TOC is immediately updated in gvSIG Mobile 0.3. Are you using a previous version (0.2?) The "Help - About gvSIG Mobile" menu will tell you which version and build number you are using.

		- Point and line styles: correct, only width (or radius) can be changed. gvSIG Mobile 1.0 will have more styles. If you have set up the workspace with the source code, maybe you can improve the styling yourself. I think it's especially easy in the case of point styles.

		- Export extension: it has not been ported to newer versions of gvSIG due to the lack of time and because it does not add a lot of functionalities. You can simply copy your data files (SHP, ECW, etc) to the device and add them as new layers from gvSIG Mobile.

		- Edition: yes, you need to have an existing layer in order to edit it. gvSIG Mobile so far does not create vector layers from scratch.

		Thanks.

Well, I wanted to wait for others, ...anybody on the list who can answer the other questions?
Anybody who can confirm, that the layer properties are not updated?
Or what about the export? I've read that it has been supported, but it isn't anymore in the last stable. Why? Will it be possible in 1.10 final?

I've got another question in addition: Do I need to have an existing layer to use the editing functions? Or can I create an empty one?

		Regards,
		Marcel S.

			Hello,

As for the legend using range of values, you need that the vector layer has some numeric field (integer, double or float). If you don't have any field of those types, the combo box will be empty and you will not be able to use that type of legend.

			Good evening list,

as some of you might know already, I am testing with gvsig mobile and planning to add some functions for special gps receivers.

Well, and again, I've a few little questions/bug reports, mainly to the developers, but perhaps others are interested, too:

Questions to gvSIG Mobile (Layer Management):

			- The color of a layer is not updated in the TOC and the properties page of a layer after changing it. However, it will be updated on map and after re-opening the TOC, it is updated there, too.

			- Is it correct, that different point or line types are not included, yet? I cannot change the point symbol (which is a square)

			- What can I do with range of values? I cannot select anything there. Is it for thematic maps and not fully included, yet?

			Questions to gvSIG Desktop 1.9:

			- I've created a project "Karlsruhe.gvp" in gvSIG Desktop 1.9, but cannot choose min/max scale for layer
either layer is displayed or not displayed, doesn't matter what number I have entered, anybody got same problems?
...if a value for max scale is entered - layer won't be displayed
...if a value for min scale is entered - layer will be displayed
...if both got values entered -> layer won't be displayed
(INFO: in contrast, in gvsig mobile, min/max scale settings seem to work)

			- I've read about exporting a gvp-project to gvm? Is it possible with gvsig 1.9? Or will it be possible? That was the reason for creating a project there, but without export-function, it will be useless.

			Best regards,

			Marcel S.
