I encourage you to do as Ben suggests because there were some other small issues with the Oracle Spatial driver in gvSIG 1.9 which I fixed and are not present in later releases & updates.

If it has 1.9 in the log file then he is probably using an older
version of OADE and should update to the latest, to benefit from
all the bugfixes that went into the 1.10 codebase.
