Carlos thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the teams have departed using the system as it was.

I will probably have the first chance to work on this next week, I will certainly let you know.
I have just presented the work done to WFP country office in Gambia and they were very interested in gvSig both PC and PPC versions.

Thanks!

Hi George,

The simbology doesn't work fine at all for the phoneme version.
The slider can't change the symbol size for instance.
You can try installing and using the J9 version.

To use J9 instead of phoneme version:

First of all you have to install J9 VM

J9 Download link:

If you're using Windows Mobile 6 you'll need delete the file \J9\PPRO11\bin\j9jit23.dll

Finally you have to install "...forJ9.CAB" CAB that you can find at:

Does it work for you?
Regards

Dear List,

I had to work out how to use and deploy gvSig mobile very rapidly in a difficult situation so excuse me if I did not have the time to investigate thoroughly.

I have not discovered how to set basic point symbology parameters in the map legend. The slider does not seem to change the size (or rather, changing the size in the xml file does not increase the square symbol size on the map) and I could not understand how to get a filled point symbol. I could only set the outline colour of a tiny square box.

Please could you advise me on how to change the symbology?

As a repented Arcpad user I have finally had the pleasure of putting gvgis mobile into action. I had tried in the past but was unable to read my shapefiles so I gave up. Now I came to Gambia to support a food security household survey (with a very large questionnaire running on our own software) however data collection teams were given high scale (/low quality) maps at the last moment showing boundaries of enumeration areas, but there was no location map, so we read the coordinates off the map and put them into gvSig with Google MapMaker road layers underneath. With this tool the enumerators can find their way to the correct settlements and identify the enumeration areas.

Thanks for any help and tricks on point styles
