I have download both the standard and portable versions and they are not working. After installing the standard version, while trying to create a new view, it flags an error "error de la applicacion". Same applies to the portable version.

Hi Stephen,

could you send us the gvSIG.log file? Run gvSIG, and after the error 
close it, and then send us the file. Depending on the distribution it is 
in a different folder:

Installable version:
     Windows XP: C:\Documents and settings\[user]\gvSIG
     Windows Vista, 7 and 8: C:\Users\[user]\gvSIG
     Linux: /home/[user]/gvSIG

Portable version: the file will be at the /home/gvSIG folder of the 
gvSIG installation folder.

The fourth gvSIG 2.3 Release Candidate (gvSIG 2.3 RC4) is now available.

We encourage you to test it and send us any errors and suggestions in 
the users mailing list [1].

It includes several new features from the previous release candidate 
distributions. The main ones are related to 3D Views or LiDAR data, and 
a distribution for MAC OS X.

You can consult all the novelties and download the application from [2].

Thanks Mario,
The RC4 has been downloaded and installed, but the problems remain. I have noticed that, the software is not properly installed on my computer as it is not listed under installed programs in my control panel.?
Also after downloading the portable versions, it results to 'invalid file' whenever I try opening it.
I really do not know how these issues can be solved, maybe when the 2.3 has been finally released.
2.2 works excellently well on my computer.

the JGrassTools package for gvSIG will be released about 2-3 months after
the final release of the gvSIG2.3.
As soon as the gvSIG2.3 is released we will test the package and after this
testing we will publish it.

an error about exporting layouts to PDF has been detected in the last 
build. When it's fixed it will be released, if there isn't any important 
bug.

The registration period for the 12th International gvSIG Conference [1] 
is now open. It will be held from November 30th to December 2nd in 
Valencia (Spain).

Registrations are free of cost (limited capacity) and must be done 
through the application form on the Conference web page [2].

We remind you that the conference will be held in a different location 
this year, concretelly at the School of Engineering in Geodesy, 
Cartography and Surveying (Universitat Polit?cnica de Val?ncia). The 
conference program and all the information about registration for the 
ten workshops that are planned, and about the conference rooms will be 
available at the event website soon.

We also inform you that we have extended the deadline for submitting 
communication proposals. The extended deadline is October 5th. You can

Subject: [Gvsig_english] gvSIG 2.3 final version is now available

gvSIG 2.3, the new gvSIG final version, is now available to download.

This version has been a qualitative leap, because of all the 
improvements and novelties, in a functional level, as well as in an 
architecture one.

Downloads are available from the project website [1], and there are two 
distribitions: installable and portable.

Some of the main novelties of this version are the distributions for Mac 
and for Windows 64 bits, and in reference to the functionalities, the 
main new features are the PRJ file support for projections, access to 
Google Maps, Bing Maps or Street View, and LiDAR data support among other.

All the novelties can be consulted in [2].

For any error in the application, or for any doubt or question, you can 
send it to the users mailing list [3], and finally, we want to tell you 
that your help, although it is small, can be very important to continue 
improving gvSIG. We encourage you to collaborate [4].
