could you send us the gvSIG.log file? Run gvSIG, and after the error close it, and then send us the file. Depending on the distribution it is in a different folder:

Installable version:
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and settings\[user]\gvSIG
    Windows Vista, 7 and 8: C:\Users\[user]\gvSIG
    Linux: /home/[user]/gvSIG

Portable version: the file will be at the /home/gvSIG folder of the gvSIG installation folder.

I have download both the standard and portable versions and they are not working. After installing the standard version, while trying to create a new view, it flags an error "error de la applicacion". Same applies to the portable version.
