The Access file contains fields as "Site name", "Site type", "Monument type" and UTM Coordinates. For every site I need a point introduced at the corresponding coordinates, and the site name, type and monument type as attributes. Is there any way I can import the information in gvSig as a table without having to introduce every bit of information manually? And if so, could the program update the table automatically when new information is inserted in the Access file? If gvSig does not support a connection with Access, what would be the best solution for my problem? Thank you in advance. In that way it was possible to connect to Access databases, but it's not possible now. If there's an entity interested in financing that development it would be done. In addition, there's a way to load the data from the table in gvSIG, that is exporting to DBF or CSV files previously. They can be added as a point layer in gvSIG, using the coordinates of the table. There are two ways: 1. Event layer: Here you can see how to do it: https://blog.gvsig.org/2018/02/01/gis-applied-to-municipality-management-module-8-2-creation-of-point-layers-from-tables-event-layers/ You can export the event layer to shapefile later. 2. Adding the table as layer: For that you can access to "Add layer", then from the "File" tab you select the CSV or DBF file, and you access to the "Properties" button. At the "Geometry" tab you can select the fields with X and Y coordinates. Here you have a video about that (it's in Spanish but it will be useful to find the menus): https://youtu.be/SzIm7daWQsg?t=362 You can export the CSV or DBF layer to shapefile later. The DBF file can be edited later from gvSIG directly, and you can edit its alphanumerical information. If you export it to shapefile you can edit it too. Here you can see how to do it https://youtu.be/obKRB3flUlM?t=338 Best regards, ? It's the same than in UTM. For that you have two options: - Loading the CSV file from the Project manager and "Table" document, and then from a View in 4326 you access to the "Event layer" option. Then you select the CSV file, and "Latitude" for "Y" and "Longitude" for "X". It's a virtual layer because it's a table, you will have to export it to SHP format to have a point layer. - In a View in 4326 you access to "Add layer", and from "File" you add the CSV file. You select it at that window and accessing to Properties, and "Geometry" tab, you can select fields for Latitude and Longitude. It's also a virtual layer because it's a table, so you will have to export it to SHP format to have a point layer. Best regards, ? Therefore, we have decided to migrate the mailing list to OSGeo. If you are interested in this mailing list to solve your doubts or problems about gvSIG development (Java, Scripting...) and receive the news related to it you can register from this web page: https://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/gvsig-desktop-devel Best regards, ??? But my question is regarding the actual form in which the latitude and longitude need to be introduced in the table, so that gvsig will recognize them as coordinates. I have tried multiple forms and nothing seems to be working. I have tried using the symbols for degrees, minutes and seconds between the numbers, I have also tried using points and commas to separate them. The decimals separator to be used will depend on the language you select in the "Regional configuration" option. "English" configuration usually uses "." and "Spanish" uses ",". Make sure that the decimal separator you use is not the same than the field separator in the CSV. Normally with the regional configuration in English you will not have problems with the field separator. About using decimal degrees, you can find more information on: https://www.rapidtables.com/convert/number/degrees-minutes-seconds-to-degrees.html To load the CSV in gvSIG you must load it as a layer, and in the "Add layer" dialog, access to Properties button. It adjusts the values of regional configuration and fields separator as it corresponds, and you have to press on "Preview". When you see the preview table correctly, in the "Geometry" tab select "Columns with values for X, Y, Z", and select the field Longitude for X and Latitude for Y. I attach an example of a CSV file with geographic coordinates if you want to check it. Let us know if it works. Best regards, ?
