Hi Chris

In this case, GNU is incompatible with the POSIX standard.
You can solve this if you define this environment variable:

_POSIX2_VERSION=199209

In the future we try to make this scrit more compatible.

In the other hand, you have to know that gvSIG uses native libraries to open 
raster files. Those libraries were compiled in 32bit and this issue can 
produce some problems in that kind of layers.
