[Gvsig_english] ERROR: Selection of objects with an additional layer

Dear list,

I am trying to select objects from one theme which ly within another theme (boundary). 
Hence there are the two options
A) View Menu > Selection > Selection by Layer
B) Sextante > tools for vector layers > select with additional layer

Executing both procedures nothing happens (those objects to be selected are as grey as before).

May there be a bug in those procedures? 

In terms of my gvsig-Version: 1.1.2 on OpenSuse 10.2 (x86_64)
