[Gvsig_english] Entering Points via coordinates

Hi,
so far I didn't find any possibility to enter vector points due to
coordinate information to a new layer, e.g. entering a given tuple of
lat/lon-coordinates instead of clicking somewhere into the layer.
May I do this by using the console (and if: how) or do I have to import
a txt-file (or other) likewise to QGis?
