Hello List!
I'd like to make a suggestion for future development if it has not already
been made. For that matter, is there a listing somewhere for suggesting
gvSIG enhancements?
A well known competitor has something it calls a 'layer'. A layer can be
brought into the project just like any other vector / raster data. A 'layer'
is a group of instructions to bring in a variable number of vector / raster
data sets and display them in a pre-defined manner. Any grouping of data
sets and their display instructions within a project can also be saved as a
'layer'. This is very useful for creating complex sets of data for display
only once, and being able to bring that combination of data sets into any
future project. It is great for saving time and keeping data displayed
consistantly. Also, once the layer is brought into a project, the data
displayed can be changed as normal since the 'layer' itself only brings the
data into the project but does not exist within the project.
I'd offer to help develop this but am still just learning to program and
learn gvSIG enough to program it. I haven't much free time either.
Steven
