Dear gvSIG users,
The stabilization phase of 1.9 version is quite advanced. The majority
of severe errors have been fixed and we think it is a good moment to
call for your collaboration as beta-testers.
We encourage the interested users to download and install the builds we
create each week (usually on Friday) to test them and report any bug you
find. We remind you that while gvSIG 1.9 isn’t stable it is strongly
recomended not to use it under a production scenario. We also recomend
to back up the data you’re going to test with.
Your collaboration is critical for us because the user cover many test
cases that are impossible to cover with systematic tests.
Some of the things you can help us to test are:
- Compatibility between 1.1.2 and 1.9 projects (1.9 version must open
1.1.x .gvp files
without any problem).
- Geospatial DDBB layer management.
- Character encodings management (Shalom).
Where can you download gvSIG 1.9 development builds from?
All the builds are available on:
https://gvsig.org/web/projects/gvsig-desktop/devel/gvsig-1_9/gvsig-1_9_0/
From there you can also get, for each build, general information and
fixed bugs.
How to report a bug?
We are currently working on a web form but so far the only way is to
send an email to this list. The mail should have the following information:
- Build number.
- Operative System and version.
- Bug description step by step.
- Error log file attached (gvSIG.log on you user folder).
If possible, always test the latest build (the highest number). As we
said before we release a new build each friday.
Thank you very much for your collaboration, specially for those who has
already tested the 1.9 version and has reported bugs or whishes. We hope
you keep doing it.
Yours sincerely,
gvSIG Testing Dept.
