[Gvsig_english] ecw file is not getting open..

Hi experts,
      I am very new to this field.I have installed gvsig 1.1 on my fedora
machine.But i am not able to get .ecw files getting open.gvSIG is also not
getting connected to the WMS,WFS servers.I am following the documentation
of gvsig user guide,but nothing is working according to that one.Can yu
please help me in this issue..
