[Gvsig_english] New areas of training and dissemination on the gvSIG website

A restructuring of the gvSIG project website [ www.gvsig.org ] has  
been launched. This goes beyond rearranging the existing information  
into the introduction of new content of interest to the community of  
users and developers of gvSIG.  Two new areas of training and  
dissemination have been created, collecting all the official  
documentation available for the project as well as that generated by  
the gvSIG community.

In addition to all the existing information in the Portal of the  
Conselleria de Infrasestructuras y Transporte, there is new material  
in the ?Reports? [1] section where the latest presentations regarding  
gvSIG are kept as well as in the new "Articles" [2] section, a  
collection of all articles about gvSIG published in technical  
journals.  Furthermore, a new section has been enabled to collect the  
reviews of the regular press echoing gvSIG [3].

There is a section devoted to the training material [4], where the  
visitor can access both the documentation for courses and workshops  
prepared under the project direction, as well as those materials  
provided by various partners. Within the new training material stands  
out a technical seminar for development in gvSIG 2.0 and new  
educational material in French. There are also a course of  
Introduction to gvSIG, prepared by the of IDEAndalucia team and a  
gvSIG Course prepared at the Seminary Agustín Horozco for the Jerez  
Teacher's Center.


Technical seminar for development in gvSIG 2.0.

There are available the videos and documentation from the technical  
seminar for development in gvSIG 2.0 [5], held 1-3 July2009 in the  
Conselleria de Infraestructuras y Transporte.  During the seminar,  
there were adressed at the level of development the innovations  
introduced in gvSIG 2.0. The seminar lasted approximately 20 hours,  
and is fully available in video format. The following development  
issues were presented:

-Introduction to the architecture of gvSIG 2.0.
-Projects and packages.
-Maven as gvSIG construction system.
-Construction of native libraries: JNI.
-LibTools and logging with SLF4J.
-DAL from the perspective of the library's client.
-New Geometries API.
-DAL from the perspective of the data provider.
-Data transformations in gvSIG.

Requirements:

Correct understanding of the seminar requires knowledge of Java and  
Ant.  Optionally, it is considered appropriate some knowledge of  
Maven, as this technology is not covered and it is necessary to  
explain the new mechanism of construction of the binaries in gvSIG.  
Likewise, it is recommended a minimal knowledge of the organization of  
the sources and architecture of gvSIG.


Teaching materials in French
----------------------------

The training documentation of gvSIG in French [6] is expanded with the  
materials generated by the Alkante company in collaboration with the  
University of Rennes 2.  A full course of gvSIG, with demonstration  
videos complementing the tutorials can be found.

Finally, we would like to thank the collaborative spirit of all the  
people and organizations that have released documentation in order to  
help the gvSIG community. We invite you to continue working and moving  
forward together.
