[Gvsig_english] empty layer as result of clipping operation?

Dear all!

 

I have a simple question: I want to carry out a simple operation - clipping a layer (shape) with a concentric buffer. I have done this several times before but now it does not work anymore. I always get the message, that the result layer is empty and that I should check for possible errors. What could possible errors be? And is there any possibility to export ascii grids from gvSIG? 

Oh - I have gvSIG 1.1.2 running under windows xp.

 

I would really be thankful for any suggestions, greetings
