Just a quick geek note, Itasca is a well known place for a lot mapserver
users because of the nice tutorial prepared by UMN people long ago[1].
Adam, as other said, you are free (as in freedom) to use gvSIG and any
other free and open source software for geospatial (FOSS4G). For more
info about FOSS4G you can take a look at the OSGeo website[2] and
please, don't hesitate to ask any other question, you are welcome.
