Hi,

What is the "session" data and properties box used for in the project
manager. Isn't this just data about the current project rather than a
particular "session" or sequence of tasks.

If it is actually project data wouldn't it best be placed in a box at
the top of the project manager so you can see the title, file path, date
created, modification date, owner and comments clearly.

As it is it is treated as secondary data - in fact, if you need to
verify what the current project file is you need to look at the windows
title bar or at the bottom of the project manager dialog box in small
writing. The project title should be large and clear at the top of the
project manager. So you see PROJECT TITLE - PROJECT DETAILS - DOCUMENT
TYPE - LIST OF DOCUMENTS.

 From the gvSIG Manual "session" appears to be reserved for a sequence
of tasks. Having actual sessions in gvSIG would be valuable. Each
session could be a distinct set of tasks in a workflow and users could
keep notes on each session. This would enable the user to cross-check
their progress against an established workflow.

To take this a step further users could establish a set of tasks and
subtasks in the project file to define a particular workflow. Sessions
details can be listed under these headings so the user can monitor the
workflow progress and any issues.

*** WORKFLOW ***
TASK 1 - Import all raster and shapefiles into view and ensure all in
correct projection
   SUBTASK 1a - Import ECW Files and group in legend
   SUBTASK 1b - Import Shapefiles and ensure they overlap correctly
TASK 2 - Adjust all symbology and labeling
   SUBTASK 2a - Change symbology on shapefiles
   SUBTASK 2b - Create label set that is easily read throughout all
views and maps
TASK 3 - Produce Maps
   SUBTASK 3a
   SUBTASK 3b
TASK 4 - Export Maps
   SUBTASK 4a

*** SESSION DETAILS ***

SESSION 1 - {date}
   SUBTASK 1a - Import ECW Files... {pertinent comments, problems, etc}
   SUBTASK 1b - Import Shapefiles ... {pertinent comments, problems, etc}
SESSION 2 - {date}
   SUBTASK 2a - Change symbology ... {pertinent comments, problems, etc}
SESSION 3 - {date}
   SUBTASK 2b - Create label ...{pertinent comments, problems, etc}
SESSION 4 - {date}
   SUBTASK 2b - Create label ... {pertinent comments, problems, etc}
SESSION 5 - {date}
   SUBTASK 2b - Create label ... {pertinent comments, problems, etc}
SESSION 5 - {date}
   SUBTASK 3a Produce Maps {pertinent comments, problems, etc}
   SUBTASK 3b Produce Maps {pertinent comments, problems, etc}
   SUBTASK 4a Export Maps {pertinent comments, problems, etc}

Of course, the user would need to set this up as a default project file
or template.

Just a thought.
