Wikidot free accounts allow for 5 sites with 300MB space each. For a wiki, with low res images and videos linked from youtube, 300MB seems like a lot, particularly if you split the languages between different (cloned) sites; OTOH before I bother Pieter to ask for more space in the future, I guess we need to explore the reuse of the existing Plone question. Given the source of the core funding, how willing would the team be to seeing that wiki opened up? I don't just mean to the select few, it needs to be open to passing users to work; need to be able to quickly register and post a comment, make an edit, etc., or people are less likely to join in.
If the existing Plone wiki is not an option, then presumably any outside wiki host can be linked from main site, with suitable warnings regarding redirection to external site, etc..
Chris
PS Wikidot is open source software has backup facility and that download could be used to populate a separately hosted instance if need be; Pieter, the CEO, is big on the whole open source thing so I don't envision any issues arising from having a gvSIG doc site.
