[Gvsig_english] Non-Conic Projections in gvSIG

I have just tested it and it works fine in gvSIG. As Luis said, you can use the 'User CRS' option:
 
Select your view in the project manager (the view must be empty now), click on 'Properties', click on the '...' button to change the CRS, select 'User CRS' in the combo box, click 'New', choose the option 'From WKT' and paste the OGC WKT description for Eckert IV:
 
PROJCS["World_Eckert_IV",GEOGCS["GCS_WGS_1984",DATUM["WGS_1984",SPHEROID["WGS_1984",6378137,298.257223563]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0],UNIT["Degree",0.017453292519943295]],PROJECTION["Eckert_IV"],PARAMETER["False_Easting",0],PARAMETER["False_Northing",0],PARAMETER["Central_Meridian",0],UNIT["Meter",1],AUTHORITY["EPSG","54012"]]

Hi Luis,

thanks for the advice. I'm not a pro in things like that, unfortunately, but I downloaded the PDF and will improve my knowledge. 
To my problem: I've found the Eckert IV projection (also solves my problem) via the ESRI List. Reprojecting didn't work in gvSIG but in Global Mapper. Finally I could load that data into gvSIG in the Eckert IV projection and made my map. Thanks for your support.

	Hi,
	   ther's no EPSG code for the projection you're asking for, but as
	gvSIG uses proj4 for projection management, you may try to add a new CRS
	that will adapt to your needs.
	   I'v found a book [1] on libproj4 that may serve as some sort of
	guide. Try 'user CRS'.
