Hello,
I have created new binaries for the Oracle Spatial extension for testing purposes. You can test them by following these steps:
- Go to your gvSIG folder and rename the folder:
[gvSIG]/bin/gvSIG/extensiones
to
[gvSIG]/bin/gvSIG/old_extensiones
- Download this file, unzip it and place its folder "extensiones" in the folder mentioned in the previous step:
https://correo.prodevelop.es/descarga/gvsig/oracle_august_2011/ora_spa_test_12_08_2011.zip
- Start gvSIG normally and you can test the Oracle Spatial functionalities.
These are some tests for the Munich people specifically:
- Open the table KART_FLAECHE, create a map and export it to PDF or print it to check that everything is ok. I have created a little shapefile with a few rectangles indicating some sophisticated geometries:
https://correo.prodevelop.es/descarga/gvsig/oracle_august_2011/boxes_for_some_complex_geoms <https://correo.prodevelop.es/descarga/gvsig/oracle_august_2011/boxes_for_some_complex_geoms_31468.zip> _31468.zip
You can use it to browse them one by one as I did in this video. What I am doing is selecting one by one the rectangles and zooming to them to see the Oracle Spatial geometry of that area:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0m_u-LSq_o
- Somebody sent me a shapefile with two large geometries with dozens of holes. It looked like this:
https://correo.prodevelop.es/descarga/gvsig/oracle_august_2011/two_polygons.png
You can try to export it again to Oracle Spatial and it should work, also the printing.
- Test the "Modify geometry > Join" with a 3D Oracle Spatial table (for example KART_FLAECHE) and it should now work.
- Test the geometric restriction when adding an Oracle Spatial layer. It should now work too. In this case I have found a situation where there is still a problem. The problem happens (at least) under these conditions:
-- You have an Oracle Spatial table with a field called GID which has a unique-value restriction
-- You open that table from gvSIG using a filter (SQL or geometric)
-- You start the editing mode and add a new element
At least in this case, there can be an error message and you might not be able to insert the data. As for now, the solution is avoiding one of the three conditions above.
- Delete the folder "extensiones" and rename "old_extensiones" to "extensiones" to go back to the original binaries.
These changes will be available in the upcoming gvSIG 1.12. If you find any problem with those binaries, please report it quickly so we can fix it.
Regards,
Juan Lucas Domínguez Rubio

Asunto: Re: [Gvsig_english] Problems with printing and exporting a map containing data from a geodatabase
Hello,
I would like to revive this thread, have any possible solutions been
discovered in the meantime?
@Juan: Was it possible to track down any errors by evaluating the results
from the database?
Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Georg Sedlmeir
