Hello Giuliano, friends

Greetings from India! I teach at a Design School in India and plan to use this course in planning our STEAM curriculum.

Is there a way to download the videos for offline use, Guiliano?

Thanks and Regards

Arvind Venkatadri

Dear all,

I have just open the course by publishing the first video and related quiz.

Let me provide you with some additional information on how this MOOC will be carried out.

There are four main topics scheduled:

1 - Introduction to main GIS concepts (24-30/11/2014);

2 - Working with geographic data (1-7/12/2014);

3 - Layers information: the attribute tables (8-14/12/2014);

4 - Show geographic information through maps (15-20/12/2014).

Each topic will be divided into subjects having, each of them, one short video and a related multiple choice quiz that will be regularly published week by week and will remain available during all the duration of the course.

Starting from Topic 2 (“Working with geographic data”), at the end of each week, I will upload two exercises together with the required input data. The first one will be a step-by-step single exercise concerning the week topic ; the second one will be a part of a larger exercise covering all the course topics. To better explain, at the end of the Course you will have three single step-by-step exercises (one about working with data, one for attribute tables and one for maps) plus a bigger exercise split in three parts and covering all the topics.

Correction of the first group of exercises will be done through course forum while the large one will be available for all but it will be corrected by the trainer only for those participants who have proceeded to the payment to obtain the official gvSIG certificate.

Participants who have paid the fee of 40€ and completed the dedicated exercise will get also 30 credits for the gvSIG Certification System. Two more MOOC are scheduled in 2015, “Layer Editing” and “Raster Analysis”, improving and completing your GIS skill and let you receive the needed credits to obtain the official gvSIG User Certificate.

During the Course, participants are invited to strongly interact on the forum with questions, comments, suggestions and answers making this MOOC an active and shared open place about GIS and gvSIG.

I remind you to use as well the gvSIG international user mailing list <http://listserv.gva.es/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/gvsig_internacional> and to download the gvSIG release from the development version webpage <http://www.gvsig.org/web/projects/gvsig-desktop/development-versions> according to your Operating System as detailed in the following list where xx has to be replaced with the numbers of the last available release:

For Windows 32 and 64 bits:  “gvSIG-desktop-2.1.0-22xx-testing-win-x86-standard-withjre.exe”

For Linux 64 bits:  “gvSIG-desktop-2.1.0-22xx-testing-lin-x86_64-standard-withjre.run”

For Linux 32 bits:  “gvSIG-desktop-2.1.0-22xx-testing-lin-x86-standard-withjre.run”

For Mac users, even if a gvSIG 2.1 release should be shortly downloadable, the only available version at the moment is the 1.11 that can be downloaded from this page <http://www.gvsig.org/plone/projects/gvsig-desktop/other-distributions/view?set_language=en>

Best regards, keep in touch and enjoy the course,

Giuliano.
