[Gvsig_english] install problem on Linux Debian

hello

I am hoping to use gvsig, but having problems installing it!

I am on my personal laptop running Debian Jessie (stable). I have
downloaded the .run file for Linux from the gvsig website and stored it
locally.

It seems to executable after the command chmod +x filename.run

However, when I execute it with ./filename.run nothing happens.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
