Hello Roger,

If I've understood you these are the steps you should follow:

1. First of all, you should Start Edition of your shape (with mouse
right button in the ToC).
2. Open the atributte table of this shape.
3. Clic on menu 'Table', and inside on 'Modify table structure'.
4. Here, there is the interface to 'Create new fields' in your shape's
table (you should choose here the field type: string, double, boolean..)
5. Once you have your new fields created you can complete the table
introducing inside the vote or whatever you need.
6. Finish edition of your shape (with mouse right button again)
7. If you would like assign colors to your shape, then clic on
Properties (in the same contextual menu; right button).
8. Inside Properties window, on Simbology label.
9. Here you can assign colors using the option 'Unic values', and
selecting Classification Field: the field you have just created for
'vote', and accept.

I hope it helps you!

Best regards,

Sergio
